Fearfulness in a dark season

We know that hearing a cancer diagnosis immediately sparks fear. Fear that this disease may change the course of your life & the lives of those around you. Fear that cancer growth may take over your body. Fear of death. This disease is not without emotional turmoil. Every patient goes through a series of grieving processes that truly shape the outcome of their journey to health.

Fear is human & we know that fear is not easily supplemented or resolved. It may be a daily occurrence when dealing with a grave diagnosis, but we are here to show you how to disentangle the hold that fear has on you.

The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom & instruction.

Proverbs 1:7

We should strive to never be fearful of what our paths may hold, but instead fear the Lord. A fear of the Lord means to fear consequences of our earthly sinfulness. Fear of the Lord is submission to His ultimate greatness & glory. It is the kind of fear that makes us bow in humbleness & overwhelming gratitude. If we are in a state of consistency fearing the Lord, we will be kept from sin. Unfortunately, we all fall short of this daily.

While God asks us to appropriately fear Him for our sake & His glory, He also tells us not to fear earthly things. It is in the difficult & scary situations that He asks us to instead have FAITH in His omnipotent plan for us & trust in Him.

We know that having faith in hard times is not as easy as it sounds. It is terrifying & heartbreaking & uncertain. However, it is these times that shape us & reveal who we truly are in Christ.

The Lord himself goes before you & will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Deuteronomy 31:8-9
