Dates are so healthy for you!

Consuming dates can help with lowering blood sugar levels, aid in weight management, & even contain powerful antioxidants. 

Dates contain powerful flavonoids that reduce inflammation, reduce the risk of diabetes, Alzheimer’s & certain cancers. They also contain carotenoids, which promote cardiovascular health & eye health. Phenolic acid is another potent antioxidant found in these fruits, which is known to help lower the risk of cancer & promote healing.

Dates have also been widely studied for their support in pregnant women. Eating these fruits throughout the last few weeks of pregnancy have been shown to promote cervical dilation & even have been known to reduce labor time. 

Often times, many people dislike the taste of these fruits, so this recipe is a sure to be a winner! You can also use dates as a natural sweetener in most recipes — it’s a perfect substitution for refined sugars! 

What you’ll need: 

10 medjool dates 

2 tablespoons peanut butter

1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips 

1 teaspoon coconut oil 

Optional: 1/4 cup chopped or crushed peanuts

Steps: 

Cut a line in the date & remove the pit. 

Fill each date with peanut butter & a bit of crushed peanuts. 

Melt chocolate & coconut oil in the microwave or a double boiler. 

Using a toothpick, dip each date into melted chocolate & use a spoon to coat the date until covered. Sprinkle remaining peanut pieces on top of each date. 

Place the dates in the fridge to allow the chocolate to set.
