Dr. Kevin Conners

“Life’s not fair – I’m in such pain.”

Yes, it’s NOT fair – you have someone to comfort you

You have money to buy pain medication

You have pain medication available, which you CAN buy

You have doctors to consult, friends to comfort you, and a warm bed to rest

You’re right; it’s not fair

“Life’s not fair – I’m 64, I’m 55, I’m 36 with a fatal diagnosis.”

Yes, it’s NOT fair – you have been given time to say goodbye

You have been given time to reconcile relationships

You have been gifted with the ability to see the end

You can better contemplate the length of eternity

You can see the urgency to repent

You’re right; it’s not fair

“Life’s not fair – I’ve got little children, I’ve got grandchildren, I’ve got a spouse who needs me.”

Yes, it’s NOT fair – you have been blessed with little children

You have the gift of grandchildren

You have a spouse, a sister, a brother, a friend, and a neighbor

You have more that half of the world’s population

You’re right; it’s not fair

“Life’s not fair – I’ve got unfulfilled dreams and goals and so much more to live

Yes, it’s NOT fair – you have had the ability to dream

You have had the luxury of making goals and believing that they actually could come true

You have had a life that 90 percent of the rest of all of humanity, present and past

Could never have even dreamed of having

You’re right; it’s not fair

“Life’s not fair – I’ve struggled for so long and battled my whole life.”

Yes, it’s NOT fair – you sleep in a warm bed each night, eat meals at will and have a home

You have clothes to spare; you have warm, running water, and a heated living space

You have taken vacations, you’ve been able to go to a doctor, you’ve relaxed

At the end of the day without worrying about your family being killed

And your possessions being confiscated

You’re right; it’s not fair

“Life’s not fair – You don’t understand, I’m not ready to die!”

Yes, it’s NOT fair – neither was the fetus that died to satisfy the convenience of another

Neither is the 5 year old with the brain tumor whose drooped face still doesn’t diminish his smile

Neither are the 40 million people living with AIDS and the 10 percent who will die from it this year

Neither were the one million fatalities this year alone from curable malaria

Neither were the 10 million children who died this year before they reached 5

You’re right; it’s not fair

There couldn’t have been a truer statement – “Life’s not fair,” because I have been given so much more than all the rest!
