Hashimoto’s in 3D
Hashimoto’s physiological web is a tangled mess. But, as we begin to understand it as such, we accept the fact that untangling such a web will bring more clarity and help move us to better health. We must learn to look at Hashimoto’s disease in a 3-dimensional way. Autoimmune diseases, in general, cannot be simply cured with a drug or supplement. They must be handled in a step-by-step process that is individually tailored to each patient. It’s important that we dive deeper into addressing Hashimoto’s disease so that remission may be a light at the end of the tunnel.
“If you can only understand the pathophysiology of Hashimoto’s in a linear pattern then you will have limitations in appropriate clinical management. However, if you can understand the pathophysiology of Hashimoto’s as an integrated complex web, you may have a better chance to manage patients with Hashimoto’s.”
— Dr. Datis Kharrazian
Ongoing autoimmune disease is, not only the doctor’s responsibility to understand that it is more complex than a simple protocol, but is also the patient’s responsibility to research & be aware of how to manage their disease properly.
Hashimoto’s disease is not just a thyroid condition! There are numerous triggering events that cause an uptick in inflammatory cytokines & activation of thyroid activity. There can be triggers that stimulate thyroid gland destruction or thyroid receptor expression depending on hypo or hyper-activity. These chronic triggers create significant loss of thyroid function overtime, & if not managed, can be very destructive.
We always want to encourage you to never give up & never stop researching your disease! Keep untangling, continue to eliminate triggers, & complete necessary testing. We know you are not crazy, although many doctors might dismiss your physical symptoms as such. Keep fighting the good fight.
